Every notebook or desktop or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that interacts with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, along with any apps that are installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each and every application runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This goes for both standard website scripts and server-side software such as a media server. In case a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so that you will be able to set up a different software environment on a single machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We offer you as many as 3 different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs you can find and we offer all three instead of just 1 as we realize that you may want to install some software with specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it will run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there're different software programs you could install on the web server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you would like to use one and because of this we offer several Control Panels too. In case you decide that you want a different OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the current one and install the one that you need. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
If you decide to purchase one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the order page as we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on the server as different apps can have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a stable and risk-free web hosting service. Depending on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you've selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you intend to run. We can also upgrade your OS on a regular basis to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
